“Jim Remington is related to famous American West artist Frederic Remington not only by blood, but also in the way they express their crafts. Jim uses his words the way Frederic painted, naturalistic but sometimes impressionistic. Frederic would first capture his target by photograph before transferring by paint to canvas, sometimes exaggerating natural motion to satisfy the eyes perception. He explained, "the artist must know more than the camera ... the horse must be incorrectly drawn from the photographic standpoint to achieve the desired effect." In his collection of writings, “Mostly Short, Mostly True Stories from Ireland” Jim is less concerned with framing historical landscapes than coloring the honest essence of a cherished moment.”
